Andrew Sorrell is a 38-year-old entrepreneur, private pilot, advanced SCUBA diver, Eagle Scout, and former State Representative from House District 3 in Colbert County. After flipping House District 3 to Republican for the first time in 140 years, he was consistently ranked Alabama’s most conservative legislator by multiple organizations such as the American Conservative Union, the Club for Growth, and the Alabama Policy Institute, which awarded him their 2020 Conservative Policy Warrior award.
After serving one term in the legislature, Andrew decided to run for State Auditor and was elected November 8th, 2022, becoming Alabama’s youngest statewide elected official. He was also elected as the Chairman of the Alabama Delegation to the RNC Convention in 2020, where he cast Alabama’s 50 delegates’ votes for Donald Trump.
Andrew attended Muscle Shoals High School and graduated in 2004. By testing out of many credit hours, taking overloads, and enrolling in summer semesters, Andrew completed his 4-year Business Management degree at the University of North Alabama (UNA) in less than 2 years, finishing in July 2006.
Andrew is a successful serial entrepreneur. He started his first company at age 16, and currently owns part or all of 4 different Alabama-based businesses, which employ about 20 people. He also owns 12 rental properties, both commercial and residential.
As he is the son, grandson, and great-grandson of preachers, Andrew’s conservative upbringing helped shape his political philosophy. Andrew currently serves as Bylaws Chairman for the Alabama Republican Party and is a member of the State Financial Officers Foundation. He authored the Alabama Republican Party’s Investment Policy which was adopted by the Steering Committee in April of 2024. He also serves on the ALGOP Investment Committee.
Andrew is married to Hannah, who he met on a bus in Rome, Italy in May 2016 while on a church history tour. Their first child was born on October 18th, 2021, a daughter they named Liberty. Their second daughter, also a girl, was born June 1st, 2023, and named Glory.
Andrew considers himself a Christian first, a Conservative second, and a Republican third.
Andrew has been involved in Alabama politics for 15 years and has successfully served as a campaign manager/consultant on mayoral, county commission, legislative, and state school board races, in addition to winning his own statewide race in which he was able to more than double the previous fundraising record for State Auditor.
